I started drumming when I was 11, growing up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I was drawn to the dhol before I understood what a career or a “path” even meant. It felt less like a choice and more like something pulling me towards it. Later, I discovered it was my purpose.

For over twenty years, it has stayed with me through everything life has brought. It carried me from the Punjabi folk traditions I grew up with into West African rhythm, shaped along the way by the Malaysian music traditions around me. I didn’t study these as separate disciplines to collect. I lived inside each one long enough to let it change how I heard everything else. Music gave me a sense of purpose, something to build a life around, and it took me further than I ever expected, touring the world in a huge way and sharing rhythm with people across countries and cultures.

Along the way, life took me abroad, and eventually to Austria, and here, music gave me something else: a community and a family. People I could share rhythm with, who welcomed me because of it.

My intention stays the same everywhere I play: to bring people together through rhythm, presence, and authentic expression.
